Background of the Study
Road infrastructure is a vital component of economic development, facilitating trade, transportation, and connectivity. Public sector accounting ensures transparency, accountability, and efficient resource management in executing road construction projects. In Kaduna North Local Government Area (LGA), challenges such as project delays, cost overruns, and substandard construction often arise due to poor financial management and accountability. This study evaluates the influence of public sector accounting on the planning, funding, and execution of road construction projects in Kaduna North.

Statement of the Problem
Despite investments in road construction, issues such as budget mismanagement, delayed completion, and low-quality infrastructure persist in Kaduna North LGA. These issues are often linked to weaknesses in public sector accounting practices. The study examines how public sector accounting impacts road construction projects in Kaduna North LGA.

Aim and Objectives of the Study
The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of public sector accounting on road construction projects in Kaduna North, Kaduna State. The specific objectives are:

  1. To assess how public sector accounting enhances transparency in road construction project management.

  2. To identify challenges in the application of public sector accounting to road construction projects.

  3. To propose strategies for improving public sector accounting practices in managing road construction projects.
